Asto Shield is for secure communication: it keeps your real number protected and makes sure only the people you have added and approved in the app can contact you. Great for dating or any other secure communication need.
What we collect. From a member who uses the app: their name, phone number, Apple sign-in ID, and the names, numbers, notes and photos they save for the people they add, and the texts and calls that go through their Asto Shield number. From a person a member adds: their phone number, the name they give, their texts and calls with the member through Asto Shield, the time, IP address, browser and exact wording of their consent, and their payment records. Card details are held by Stripe, not by Asto.
Why. To connect the two of them privately, to bill packs and plans, to prevent abuse, and so the member can give their own records to police if they choose. A member's phone number is used only to confirm it with the one-time code they ask for, which Twilio Verify sends from Twilio's own numbers. A person's phone number is used to relay the member's texts to them and to send them the service texts listed in the Terms and on How texting works.
Who sees it. Each member sees only their own conversations. A person a member adds sees only theirs. Asto uses service providers to run the service: Twilio (texts and calls), Stripe (payments) and Apple (sign-in and notifications). We give records to police only when the member sends them through a private link, or when the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
Text messaging. We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
We send no marketing texts. Reply STOP to any text to stop getting texts, HELP for help. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages.
How long. Texts and call logs are kept so the member can use them as records. Recordings (Premium only) are kept for 90 days after Premium ends, then deleted. A member can delete their account in the app (Account, then Delete my account). It happens at once: their texts, calls, recordings, photos, notes, the people they added and their records links are deleted, and their Asto Shield number stops reaching them. Asto keeps only payment and usage records and the texting consent records of the people they added, in the words those people agreed to. A person a member added can ask ben@nerdsystems.com to delete their information.
